City Life Oasis
By: Dawn Spuesens
Privacy and space are hard to come by when building in the city, with land size restrictions and higher-density developments making them difficult to find.
For those looking for their own little oasis from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Leverington Mews is a rare treasure. These exclusive single-family homes are located on a private two-acre community in northwest Philly, nestled behind – and inspired by – a stately second-empire Victorian stone mansion.
The grand homes blend in with the surrounding traditional homes, respecting the fabric of the neighborhood, but the inside of the homes tell a different story, with their modern floor plans and unique finishes like the copper soaking tub in the master bath and the copper farmhouse sink in the kitchen.
They also speak to today’s home buyers, providing open space, an intuitive layout and features like the bright, chic study with cupola ceiling and hanging pendant lights, and the dining area with coffered ceiling.
Each home features three-four bedrooms (fourth bedroom could be an office), three-and-a-half baths and an open family room that leads into the kitchen. The family room offers a custom entertainment center with sliding barn doors and a fireplace to help families feel warm and snug on a cold winter's night.
With stone patios and fenced-in yards, the Leverington Mews offers what many other new construction homes in the area can’t – breathing room – and it does so in a beautiful package with a low-energy footprint.
In fact, heating for all four homes combined are only slightly higher than heating the original stone home that was on the lot. Tankless water heaters and dual-zone high-efficiency HVAC systems add to the homes' energy efficiency.
The Leverington Mews pays tribute to tradition while adding splashes of modern flare, giving the homes lasting curb appeal and the wow factor we're all looking for when building a new home.
